Mixed Media Juried Show

 This show is open for public entries!  We will be accepting drawings, paintings, and collages.  Guidelines include the use of at least two mediums in your work.  Artists may submit up to 3 pieces.  

Works will be juried by JMPS Board President Deana Novak and JMPS Board Member and Williston State College Art Instructor, Lino Azevedo.  Pieces must be dropped off at the James the week of November 20th (minus Thanksgiving day).  

Prizes Awarded are Best of Show ($50 cash award), People's Choice, and Honorable Mention.



Out Loud at The James

Calling all acoustic musicians, storytellers, comedians and poets!  This night is for you!  Join us every third Friday of the month from 8 to 10 p.m. Bring your poems, songs, and jokes and share with a welcoming crowd of your neighbors and friends.  Enjoy the atmosphere as we turn Center Stage into a hip coffee house! Warm Up after Light Up on Friday, November the 24th

No holiday season would be complete without this staple event! After the parade, please join us at the James Memorial Art Center where you can warm up with our famous hot chocolate, have a few sweet treats and enjoy live music. And be sure to say hello to Santa! He'll be stopping in to visit with the young and the young at heart!


Artist Reception ~ Friday, December the 1st from 7 to 9 p.m.

In Gallery I, Sabrina Ramey's photography will be on display entitled the Dakota Territory Heritage Project.

In Gallery II, The James' first Juried Mixed Media show will be exhibited.  Come see the works of local artists and vote for your favorite piece!

Refreshments will be served.

Holiday Stroll ~ Thursday, December the 7th

While you are enjoying the festivities of Williston's Downtown Holiday Stroll, be sure to visit the James.  Our galleries will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.  We have unique holiday gift ideas such as original artwork and prints for sale or perhaps someone you love would like an annual membership.  Be sure to include the James on your itinerary during this magical night.  


Magnificat Open Rehearsal~ Wednesday, December the 13th

Come and watch the Philippine-American Choral Project rehearse for St. Joseph's Church's upcoming Advent Celebration, Magnificat.  Hear them sing Christmas songs, as well as beloved hymns and praise and worship tunes.  Rehearsal will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Snowman Competition ~ Friday, December the 29th

We'll provide the cookies and cocoa, mother nature will provide the snow (we hope!), and you bring the creativity!  Join us for the James' first ever Snowman Competition from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, December the 29th.  Simply call the James to register your team and then show up the day of with all of your props and clothes to make the best snowman in town!  And who decides that?  A very special guest judge, Mayor Klug, of course!  Thank you to ACME Tools for donating prizes for our winners!



80's Prom Night ~ Saturday, January the 27th

Grab your jelly bracelets, aqua net hair spray, puffy sleeves and chucks!  Come dance to Flock of Seagulls, Madonna, and Cyndi Lauper.  Or try singing memorable hits like Billie Jean, When Doves Cry or Eye of the Tiger!  All this fun can be yours for just a $10 cover charge!  Cash bar and appetizers will be served.  Adults 21 and over only at this event.  Flashback to the 80's starts at 8 p.m. and goes until midnight. 


Vino with Lino ~ Saturday, February the 17th

On February the 17th from 7 to 9 p.m., Williston State College's Art Instructor, Lino Azevedo will be teaching a winter landscape class as a fundraiser for the James.  Wine and light appetizers will be served.  This is a great event for a girls night or a fun way to spend Valentine's Day weekend.  Please contact the James to register~  only 20 spots available!  Attendee's must be 21 years or older.  Tickets are $50 per person and include all supplies, drinks and appetizers.
